Escambia County Animal Welfare to Host "Petpalooza" Event May 3

Published Apr 25, 2025

The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare invites the public to the first "Petpalooza" event Saturday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Animal Welfare and Adoption Center, located at 200 W. Fairfield Drive. This event is free and open to the public.

During the event, attendees will enjoy free pet adoptions, food trucks, vendors, pet resources, and more. New playground equipment for the shelter dogs will also be unveiled during the event.

“I’m excited to invite everyone to our first ever ‘Petpalooza,’” Escambia County Animal Welfare Director John Robinson said. “This event would not be possible without the support of our friends at Cumulus Media who have been great partners and supporters of our mission. I’d also like to thank Wolfgang Pensacola and Krewe of Hip Huggers for their generous donation of our new dog playground. This equipment will be used to give the dogs an outlet to play and socialize during their time with us. Thank you to everyone involved who made this event possible and continues to support the work we do.”

Escambia County Animal Welfare has partnered with Bissell Pet Foundation for the “Empty the Shelters” adoption event, offering free adoptions on cats and dogs one year or older starting Thursday, May 1 until Thursday, May 15. Puppies will be available for $50, and kittens will be available for $25. A $15 licensing fee will be applied to all adoptions for Escambia County residents.

Attendees will be able to adopt pets same day during “Petpalooza,” or stop by the shelter during the adoption event to meet the animals in person. Visit 24petconnect.com to see a full list of adoptable pets in Escambia County.
