Homestead Property Tax Exemption for Veterans:

Take your VA Benefit Summary Letter* to the Escambia County Property Appraiser's Office to apply for the following:

  • $5,000 Veterans Discount for honorably discharged Veterans disabled to a degree of 10% or more (Florida Statute 196.24)
  • Combat Related Exemption for honorably discharged Veterans OVER THE AGE OF 65 with a documented COMBAT RELATED service-connected disability (Florida Statute 196.082)
  • Veterans Total Exemption for honorably discharged Veterans with service-connected disabilities rated TOTALLY and PERMANENTLY disabled (Florida Statute 196.081)

    The Veteran’s exemption MAY carry over to the surviving spouse.  Please contact the Escambia County Property Appraiser’s Office regarding all eligibility questions and the application process.

*VA Benefit Summary letters are mailed the first week of December each year. If you have not received yours, likely your address needs to be updated with the VA. You can go to the VA Website to print your VA Benefit Summary Letter to take to the Property Appraiser's Office.
